Area Activities

Gaming

Soaring Eagle Casino is only thirty minutes straight down M 20.  Michigan's largest casino with abundant gaming, fantastic food and big name entertainment.

Golf

In case you haven't heard yet, Mecosta County is becoming a golf Mecca!  We are located just ten minutes from both St. Ives and Tullymore.  Under new ownership, these courses offer some of the most challenging and beautiful golf in the country.  Links style play, conference facilities and gourmet dining await those who love northern Michigan golf, without the hassle of hours on the highway.  But don't play these courses because of their location, play for an experience you'll be telling all your friends about.  Lodge guests receive discounts on golf.  There are also many other fine public courses within minutes of the Lodge.

Fishing

You are right in the heart of some of the best fishing in the Midwest.  Steelhead, brown trout, salmon, huge pike, crappie, bass, perch and even muskie right off the dock.  We are forty minutes from the White River, home of giant browns, forty minutes from Croton Dam on the mighty Muskegon where you will regularly tie up with rainbows, browns, steelhead and salmon.  Best of all?  Only forty minutes from the Pere Marquette, blue ribbon trout fishing at a national best.  Plus, if the mood strikes you, just 90 minutes to the AuSable, Michigan's best know trout stream.  There are also numerous charters out of Ludington and Manistee, only one hour away.  We'll set you up with a hearty breakfast and a boxed lunch for your day on the water.  The host can even serve as a guide to those unfamiliar with the area.

Hunting

We are in the center of the best hunting in the Midwest.  If you're after turkey, white tails, pheasant, grouse, quail, duck or geese, this is it!  We are just ten minutes from the Martini chain of lakes, known by many as the best waterfowl hunting in Michigan, if not the Midwest.  There are numerous hunting preserves offering exotics, white tail, and pheasant.  The Michigan Association of Gamebird Breeders & Hunting Preserves can guide you to the many preserves in the area.  We are also anxiously awaiting the grand opening of the Gilbert Creek Ranch which will provide gold medal trophy white tails within a managed 400 acre preserve.  Right across the street!

Entertainment

The Wheatland Music Organization is just ten minutes from our door.  The big weekends are Memorial Day and a weekend usually in September, featuring countless folk acts, dancing, crafts...you name it!  There are activities for kids and grown-ups alike.  But there are also activities going on all summer.  So, if you've reached the point of still loving the experience but would prefer memory foam mattresses and gourmet breakfasts over hard ground and a fire pit, come join the others who've made the decidedly more enjoyable switch.  Once you've experienced the Wheatland Music Festival, you'll be back every year!

Winter Sports

Snowmobiling is only ten minutes away at the highly desirable White Pine Trail that links to trails from Grand Rapids, Baldwin and reaches all the way to Mackinac.  And boy do we get snow!  So after a long trail ride, put your feet up to the fire and take in a game on the wide screen TV in our thirty by seventeen great room.

We are also close to outstanding downhill skiing.  Caberfae and Snow Snake are one hour away, Crystal Mountain one hour, twenty minutes and Canonsburg just forty five minutes.  These are terrific facilities and great values!

Sporting Events

Football anyone?  We are a preferred lodging spot for both Ferris State University and Central Michigan University sporting events.  Located just fifteen minutes from Ferris and thirty from Central, what a great alternative to off-the-freeway, econo-motels?  They sure can't compete with our forty two inch, high-def home theater, foosball table, wet bar for all those necessary beverages, seventeen-foot fireplace and gourmet breakfasts!

Graduation and parent weekends

The day has finally arrived!  Graduation.  Make this once in a lifetime event even more memorable by using the Lodge as your base of operations.  Only fifteen minutes to Ferris State University and thirty to Central Michigan University

Water Sports

We are located on Blue Lake of the Tri-lakes of Mecosta which also includes Round Lake and Lake Mecosta.  These sapphire jewels feature sandy bottoms, crystal clear waters and light traffic.  We have a huge over the water deck, sandy beach area, forty foot dock and easy water entry.  Bring your own boat if you like or use our kayak to explore the lake as well as the west branch of the Muskegon River that winds through the lakes to the old mill at the dam.  Fantastic bird watching awaits.

We are just ten minutes for some of Michigan's best canoeing and tubing on the mighty Muskegon River.

Dining

There are a number of dining options nearby.  For the gourmet, Northern Shores Supper Club is located within walking distance and features unique dishes prepared by Teo who's style comes from his Swiss background.  Situated above Blue Lake, the views are to die for.  Next try Antlers, five minutes away with an excellent menu, outdoor seating on the water and a warm decor.  Ste Ives also produces dishes that have everyone talking, with both formal and informal options.  For lunch or dinner you may want to visit the many family owned bars and restaurants with everything from a one pound burger to all-you-can-eat white fish.

Weddings and Reunions

There is no more beautiful spot to host your dream day or reunion.  A weekend package includes all six rooms for Friday and Saturday nights (we are just around the corner from another B&B and The Inn at St. Ives, a full-service hotel for your other guests) and grounds for your ceremony and reception or reunion.  We can guide you to several outstanding caterers in the area.  The grounds can accommodate up to 100 guests.  If you are planning on more then 30 guests, a few special arrangements will need to be made for you and your guests comfort.  Ground fees start at $500 (assuming all guest rooms are also booked for the event) and vary depending on the detail of your special day as well as the season.

We will be pleased to discuss details and share pictures from previous events.
